Warming up(Show a picture: Some students are cleaning the park. )Warming up by studying the title “Ill help to clean up the city parks.”Hello, class. It is clean in our classroom. Who cleaned the floor yesterday? Who help clean up the classroom yesterday? Oh, by the way, what is “clean up the classroom”? What does it mean by “cleaning up the classroom”? Yes, you are right. “clean up” is a phrasal verb. It means put (things or places) in order收拾干凈(掃除).Lets make more sentences using this phrasal verb “clean up”.(With the help of the pictures, students can make sentences easily)1. You should always clean up the room. 你應該經常清理房間。2. The mayor is determined to clean up the city. 市長決心清除市內的不良現(xiàn)象。3. Clean up that wine before it soaks in (to the carpet). 趁那酒還沒滲進(地毯里)去, 快把它擦干凈.4. Stop idling and help me clean up. 別游手好閑的, 來幫我打掃打掃吧.5. Who will clean up the cats mess in the bedroom? 誰去清除臥室里的貓屎?Step 2 Looking and readingLook at the bulletin board on page 60 and read about ways by which you could help people. Then list other ways you could help people.work outside, clean up the city parks, help stop hunger, visit sick childrencall people back, find out about the flood, take part in planting trees, help provide money for the poor students, be volunteers at the 2008 OlympicsStep 3 Listening and completingYou are going to listen to several conversations.While listening, pay attention to the phrasal verbs and the information for completing the sentences in the box.1. Id like to work outside. You could help clean up the city parks.2. Id like to help homeless people. You could give out food at the food bank.3. Id like to cheer up sick kids. You could visit them in the hospital.4. Id like to help kids with their schoolwork. You could volunteer in an after-school study program.Now go to page 132 and read the tapescript. While reading try to note all the phrasal verbs, cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study all the predicates, circle all the linking words.
