5、,we read the first part of a story whose title is “A Christmas Carol”.Today we are going to continue with the second part of the story.First,lets learn the new words in it.Please look at them on the screen.(Show the new words on the screen.) (Teacher asks students to read the words and corrects thei

6、r mistakes if there are any.Then give students three minutes to remember them.)T:From the first part of the story,we know Scrooge,the mean and cold business man,is brought into his dreams.Do you guess what he can see in the dreams?Now read the passage quickly.Later,youll know what happens and how he

7、 feels.(Teacher gives students a few minutes to read the passage.)T:Now youve got the general idea.Read it again to find the important phrases and different sentences from it.Lets begin,please.(After students finish reading it,teacher asks them to give the phrases one by one.At the same time,teacher

16、ows him.That is because he doesnt want people to know what he did in the past.3.(1)The young Scrooge and the girl are talking about his changes.He isnt what he used to be.He doesnt care about her any more.All he thinks about is how to make money.She is going to separate with him.(2)I think she means

17、 money by saying “the golden idol”.(3)She doesnt love Scrooge any more.That is because he doesnt care for anyone,including her.He only has eyes for money.All his other hopes and dreams disappear one by one.(4)If people weigh everything by gain,people will become a selfish,mean man.4.Mrs Cratchit doe

18、snt want to drink a toast to Mr Scrooge.She thinks he is so mean,hard,selfish an old man.She thinks poorly of him and doesnt like a man like him.5.Tiny Tim is seriously ill,even cant walk.Maybe he is lame.I think if Tiny Tim would die in the future,Scrooge is to blame for it.Because Tims father,Bob,

19、works for him as a clerk.He pays him so little money,but makes him work so many hours.He never had money to buy medicine to treat Tiny Tim.Step WritingT:Now weve finished reading the passage“A Christmas Carol”written by Dickens.What do you think of the story?Now work in groups of four to discuss and

23、 asked to open his heart to the poor,he says those who are badly off should be sent to prison.He doesnt care about anyone at all,including himself.He only has his eyes for money.At Christmas Eve,he was brought into dreams.In the dreams,he sees a kind boss dancing and singing happily with his workers

24、.He also sees a clerk of his and his family getting together with smiles on their faces,although they have no Christmas gifts and no turkey.Besides,he sees his lonliness without a friend and a relative when he is ill in the days to come.He sees his coldness and selfishness.All this wakes him up.He begins to think about what life is about.He finds giving is happier than taking.This way he changed himself completely.He becomes a kind,merciful man.The story advises people to be kind to others,have mercy on othe
