海淀(上)期末How to Love Your ParentsEven if you think that your parents are mean-spirited at times, loving your parents is a normal and fulfilling part of life. Understand that parents are human beings and make mistakes._73_ Since you can forgive your friends, why not forgive your parents?Keep company with them. G朝陽區(qū) (上)期末Why Do We Forget Things? When it comes to having perfect memories, it is apparent that we humans must have had some faults in our blueprints(藍(lán)圖)! Why dont we remember everything that we want to remember? It makes us feel upset and get discouraged. 71 However, its true that we are all forgetful. 72 These are stored in what we call our “l(fā)ong-term memory”. What about before age three? Sigmund Freud, a doctor of Vienna, discovered the fact that we forget most of our early childhood. 73 They have different opinions. A very good theory, born from the results of experimentation with babies, is that absence of language ability at the time of an event stopped us from describing it to others. 74 Experts say that you can keep about seven things in your memory at once for up to three days. During that time, you may forget something in order to put something else in its place, or you put it into long-term memory. What goes into short-term memory are things youve learned about recently, in the past day or two. 75 For example, you may have met your favorite star last week, and this week you can tell all the details to a friend. A simple example to explain your short-term memory is to look at a list of twenty words for a minute or two. You will discover that you cannot remember more than about seven of them and that they are the ones in the beginning and at the end of the list because your mind has judged them to be more important than those in the middle. A. Scientists now know that it may take longer to remember things for the old.B. However, it is widely recognized that short-term memory can be improved.C. Sometimes, it even causes us to lose self-respect or others to think less of us.D. Psychologists have been studying what causes this forgetfulness since Freuds time.E. Most of us have vivid memories of our lives from about age three to our present ages.F. Only if something really unusual happens does it stay in your short-term memory for longer.G. The other type of memory, the “short-term memory”, is what we are usually referring to when we say, “I forgot.”朝陽區(qū) (上)期末 答案7175 CEDGF豐臺區(qū) (上)期末You might take a car, a bus, or a bike to school. But in Bangladesh, instead of waiting for a school bus to come down their street, many students wait for a school boat to come down the river. Thats rightthese students attend school on a boat!Bangladesh is very close to sea level._71_ The flooding creates many problems. For the nearly 160 million people living there, the periodic flooding means that they are often unable to access roads, electricity, or telephones.Growing up in Bangladesh, Mohammed Rezwan was often troubled by these disruptions(破壞). _72_ The name means “self-reliance (自力更生).” The purpose of the organization is to help the people of Bangladesh receive an education and also to bring technology and an improved quality of life to poor people in remote areas of the country. In 2002, Rezwan began transforming boats into schools. Each boat was built to house between 30 and 35 students. The boats had everything you might find in a regular classroom. The only difference was that they floated on a river._73_ Today Rezwan and his organization operate 88 boats in northern Bangladesh. About half the boats are used as schools, and the other half are used as temporary houses during the flood season. In addition to the schools and the temporary housing, there are also a floating technology and training center, a library that allows students to check out books, and a health-care center. The school boats travel along the rivers and pick up students for classes that include computer technology, agriculture, and human rights. At night the boats provide additional learning opportunities for students and adults. _74_ They study using solar lamps that are charged during the day at stations near the river. Special equipment on the boats also projects lessons onto big screens made from sailcloth. People can come down to the riverbank to watch films. In all, these boats help educate close to 90,000 families in Bangladesh. By floating down the rivers, the school boats provide more than books. _75_ “This library boat inspired me,” said 18-year-old student Shanto Islam, who enjoys reading science fiction books. “I started to dream.” Islam now wants to attend a university.A. One big concern is the people who take advantage of aids, such as handicap parking spaces. 73 And the meeting focused on educating the public. Some handicap spots have extra room next to them, marked with the “No Parking” signs. “As long as Im not in the spot, I can take the no-parking area next to it,” some people say. However, the woman who uses a wheelchair disagrees to this. The space exists to allow someone in a wheelchair to have room to get in or out of their car. 74 Some walkways have handrails next to them to help those who require extra assistance. Whether it is a blind person seeking guidance or an elderly person seeking support, the rail is there for walking. Sometimes the rail is blocked, by a parked bicycle for instance, and consequently made useless. 75 People who are informed of the rails use would be less likely to mistake it for a bike rack.Meeting some of the people who are affected by the lack of education about accommodations made me see that there is work to be done. If more people were educated about the proper uses of accommodations, there would be fewer challenges for people with physical disabilities.A. Accommodations will vary according to the needs of the disabled. B. As with the parking spot, this is more likely a case of lack of education. C. People in the United States love their dogs and treat them well. 71 However, dogs without owners to care for them lead a different kind of life. The expression, to lead a dogs life, describes a person who has an unhappy existence. Some people say we live in a dog-eat-dog world. 72 They say that to be successful, a person has to work like a dog. This means they have to work very, very hard. Such hard work can make people dog-tired. And, the situation would be even worse if they became sick as a dog. 73 This means that every person enjoys a successful period during his or her life. To be successful, people often have to learn new skills. Yet, some people say that you can never teach an old dog new tricks. They believe that older people do not like to learn
