Once upon a time, there lived a king. Long long ago, there lived a king. The ring suddenly began to speak, which made the brave young man very amazed. No one liked to talk to Wilbur, a weak pig, except a spider named Charlotte, who treated Wilbur as her good friend. In 2146, we are flying in the air, conveying signals through our minds. They finally defeated the evil witch, living a happy life. A young man saw_a_ring_lying on the ground when he was walking through a wood. The young man was very glad, put_the_ring_on_his_finger and went home. He is_wandering in the forest all day. They saw nobody in the room and called_for_the father.2句式升級(jí)用v.ing形式作狀語改寫句Walking_through_a_wood,_a_young_man_saw_a_ring_lying_on_the_ground.用with的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)改寫句The_young_man_was_very_glad_and_went_home_with_the_ring_on_his_finger.用含定語從句的復(fù)合句改寫句All_he_does_is_wandering_in_the_forest_all_day.用when引導(dǎo)的時(shí)間狀語從句改寫句When_they_saw_nobody_in_the_room,_they_called_for_the_father. A Magic RingWalking through a wood, a young man saw a ring lying on the ground. He discovered that when he put the ring on his finger, he disappeared. When he took it off, he could be seen. The young man was very glad and went home with the ring on his finger, thinking about whether his parents could see him. When he went home, his parents didnt see him as expected. So he could hear his parents conversation.“Ive arranged for four soldiers to come and take him off to join the army tonight when hes asleep.” his father said.“Good,” said his mother,“Hes completely/utterly useless here at home. All he does is wandering in the forest all day!”“Well, army life will soon change all that,” his father replied. But the young man didnt want to join the army.So he thought of a plan. After midnight, hearing people whispering outside his room, the young man quickly slipped the ring onto his finger.Four soldiers came in with a rope and a bag.But when they saw nobody in the room, they called for the father.Looking around the room, the father was very surprised and very angry. And the young man succeeded with the help of the ring. Fantasies for young readers really began with the fairy tales of writers such as the Brothers Grimm. Of course, all the children who grow up reading these books and tales never, at heart, really grow up at all, for such wonderful stories are forever carved in their minds. And fairy tales are as much fun to read when we are fifty, only for memorable reasons, as they are when we are children. But its obvious these days that fantasies arent only for the little ones. In 1977, 23 years after TheLordoftheRings by Tolkien was published, Terry Brooks published his first novel, TheSwordofShannara. It became the first work of fiction ever to appear on theNewYorkTimes Trade Paperback Bestseller List, where it remained for over five months. Following the release of Tolkiens work, earlier works of fantasy, like TH. Whites OnceandFutureKing and Eric Eddisons TheMezentianGate(in 1958) came out before TheSwordofShannara, but neither had an influence quite like TheSwordofShannara. Fantasies were truly reborn. As the popularity of fantasies began to grow quickly, the film and television industry climbed_aboard_the_bandwagon. During the eighties, the fantasy/adventure movie was born. Conan is a classic to the eighties. Other less memorable films can still be found in video stores. The lack of really good fantasy movies in the recent past can be blamed on substandard (標(biāo)準(zhǔn)以下的) special effects. However, now, in an age of postmodern computer technology, the impossible is no longer a concern. Since the release and popularity of TheLordoftheRings, cinema screen production rights have been purchased for scores of fantasy novels, from Terry Brooks to Robert Jordan. The future of fantasies has never looked so assured. Even childrens cinema has had its own successes through the big screen release of the HarryPotter series and the classic PeterPan. While there remains a choice to go beyond the reality we know, there will always be fantasies. 1What can we learn from the first paragraph?AFairy tales live in peoples mind.BFantasies are attractive to persons of all ages.CFantasies appear earlier than fairy tales.DThe Brothers Grimm is famous for TheSwordofShannara. 根據(jù)第一段的“And fairy tales are as much fun to read when we are fifty, only for memorable reasons, as they are when we are children.” 2Which of the following fantasy books showed the rebirth of fantasies?ATheSwordofShannara.BTheLordoftheRings.COnceandFutureKing.DTheMezentianGate. Create your lead character or protagonist and other principals, working out the back story or history of that person, their wants and needs, friends, family, schooling everything you can imagine._2_ Provide individual features for the protagonists philosophical and immediate motivations, and try to explain them fully or properly. He is also a productive writer of outstanding short fiction, which is collected in many volumes over the last forty years, most recently in TheBestofGeneWolfe.Although Wolfe is not as wellknown to readers as he once was, he has been the receiver of great praise, including three World Fantasy Awards, two Nebulas, and eight Hugo Award nominations (提名). Scifi author Harlan Ellison has called him, “no less than one of the finest, most original writers in the world today”,and the EncyclopediaofScienceFiction names him “quite possibly the most important” writer in the field of science fiction.Born in 1931, New York, Gene Wolfe moved frequently as a child, but spent most of his growingup years in Texas. Wolfe began writing fiction in 1956, selling his first story, TheDeadMan, to Sir magazine in 1965. He produced a vast amount of short fiction during the 1960s and 1970s, many of which were published in Damon Knights Orbit anthologies. In 1972 Wolfes groundbreaking TheFifthHeadofCerberus appeared. The story of human conquest (征服) upon two distant planets, the book examines issues of identity, individuality, and the results of colonialism upon both the colonized and the colonizer. The novel was later listed in David Pringles 1985 list of The 100 Best Novels in science fiction for the period 19491984.Many of his novels, TheShadowoftheTorturer included, rely on a diary or letter to tell his story. In addition, Wolfes early interest in mystery novels shines through in his ability to drop cleverly hidden clues (線索) that allow the reader to grasp at the possible narrative behind the narrative.By 1984 Wolfe was able to retire and devote himself fulltime to his writing. Yet despite (盡管) all this, and despite the continuing respect of his colleagues, his work has become somewhat unfamiliar. Wolfes admirers hope this fact will be at least somewhat improved by his most recent offering, TheWizardKnight, which falls within the fantasy type that is currently popular.語篇解讀:文章主要介紹了美國(guó)科幻、奇幻小說家吉恩沃爾夫。1What is Harlan Ellisons attitude toward Gene Wolfe?AConcerned.BSympathetic.CAdmiring.
