Tellthemthatasmembersoftheexpedition,theyhavebeeninvitedtoputtogetherapresentationabouttheirjourneytostudentsataschool.Ask“Whatareyougoingtotalkabout?”Elicitideas.
ThenaskstudentstothinkaboutthethreemaintopicsthatthewritercoveredinhisreportaboutthejourneytotheSouthPole.Ingroupsoffour,havethemnotethreemaintopics(referringthemtothereportforminExercise5,ifneeded).Afterdiscussion,notethesethreemaintopicsontheboard;

?Encouragestudentstoprovidefocustotheirpresentationsbyidentifyingthethreemaintopicsandmakingnotesabouteach(basedontheinformationfromthetextinExercise3).Theycantakeexamplesfromthetextaboutthepeopleinvolvedandthedifficultiestheyhad,andthenprovidemoredetailstomaketheirpresentationsmoreinterestingandpersonal.(Theywanttheirlistenerstogetaclearideahowtheyfeelabouttheexpedition.)Finally,theycanconcludetheirpresentationsbytalkingaboutwhattheylearnedfromtheexpedition.Again,encouragethemtoprovidetheirpersonalthoughtshere.
